Who has trouble getting motivated to lace up the running shoes and hit the road in the dead of winter? Me too! Unfortunately, there is little that can be done about it when you live in New England. You just have to get out there and do it.
There a million things to consider. Do I layer? Do I use heaters? Do I suck it up and dread mill it? The answer all depends on what you want to do. Keeping safety at the forefront is job one. If it is below 10, I dread mill it. Even if it the air is like 20 and the wind makes it feel like ten. If it is icy, i skip it. I don't do layers as I would have to stop and remove them. I would rather work up a good sweat and see what happens.
No matter what you do, keep hydrated. You can still be a hydration casualty in the winter.
