Is it Wednesday already? It has been a little over a week since I started sharing my thoughts. Have you done anything different with your time this week? Have you paid more attention to yourself and what you fuel your body with? Have you opened your heart and mind to something greater?
There is absolutely no one set path to wellness. Heck, you might already be there and are reading my posts because it they are an awesome read.
My path started the wrong way. No coaching, no guides, no team. Just me being a stubborn jack-ass thinking I knew it all.
The one thing I knew I had to do was stop drinking soda and eating foods from McDonald's BK and Wendy's. Unfortunately these three are an easy stroll from my house.
Do you know what happened? Three years ago I went cold turkey! Nothing except a coffee and occasional salad or yogurt. In three months I lost 10 pounds with minimal exercise and no soda or fast food.
Why the hate on soda? It is just plain horrible. I am such a hypocrite when I say this. I would have 3-4 sometimes more cokes a day. And don't get me started on the diet brands.
Soda has caused a lot of painful damage to my teeth. They are better now after some very expensive work. I am sure my digestive issues were caused in part to the bubbly 4 letter word.
All soda is just sugar syrup and other chemicals that will not do your body any good and offer 0 nutrition.
I am so not a scientist and have not read any medical journals or stuff like that. What I know is that when I ate lots of fast food and drank lots of soda I blew up like a ballon.
I am not going to sit here at 408am and tell anyone to do anything. I can only tell you how amazing it feels to be rid of the soda and fast food addiction. Yes, another addiction. I am also admitting that i love cookies, candy, cake, and ice cream. I eat them when I want, but not too often anymore. I will have pizza and fries and burgers on occasion, but prefer chicken, fish, and steak.
Water is my go to beverage. When we go out I only get water or coffee.
What I am hoping you have enjoyed over the past week or so is learning a little about me, and perhaps learning a little about yourself. This next part of wellness Wednesday has nothing to do with food.
Part of any wellness plan is trying to calm your mind. I had the most horrible experience ever at work yesterday. It bummed me out to no end. I have nowhere to go as in reality there is no help. So what did I do? I tried to be even more positive. Had a nice dinner at home and enjoyed our hot tub. Went to bed early and got up at 330 to write this and head off to the gym.
I will never change my attitude and my love of my fellow humans. People need to lighten the heck up and get over themselves.
As you get rolling with your day please try to remember to be kind and think about what can be done to make at least one persons day better.
If you are still thinking about soda and are at a store, please do not choose diet or clear. Those are the worst. There is more sugar in sprite than coke.
If you want lemon lime have some water with lemon and lime juice.
You should keep yourself hydrated by drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water.
At almost 45 years young I am finally making an honest effort to eat my veggies.
Sorry this is long and rambling. My mind and heart are still upset over yesterday. I think some gym time in a few minutes will cure it.
Remember, being a good human will cost you nothing and pay you back in more ways than you can imagine.
Fueling your body with the best foods on earth will make you stronger in body and spirit. Be good to your self and expect NOTHING.
Yesterday was an interesting day. I know I have inspired others to enter this journey with me over the years. They know who they are and will remain nameless.
Well except one. My teenage boy has an interest in running now. He told us he needs to build up stamina. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Have a fabulous Wednesday and thanks for tuning in.
