Can you believe today is the last day of November? My mission is going strong and my collections are growing every day. The local veterans in need will certainly appreciate this. So many of you might be asking what is the deal with all this. Well I am also a veteran of the Army and disabled at that. I am one of the lucky ones. I have a house, job, car, food, clothes, and a great support group. For me it is time to finally give back more than I have. I had great faith in our government that finally our veterans would be taken care of. And just like other administrations, Red and Blue alike, I am totally disgusted with the lack of sincere concern given for those who have served.
There are a million stories out there. Each one is different. I am sure everyone has opinions as to what causes the issues some veterans have. The reasons do not really matter to me. What we need to do is try and be as supportive as possible. It is a shame that some of Americas bravest men and women are left in the cold upon release from duty. With all the support given to other countries and populations I personally do not think it is fair to have a veteran choose to pay a bill or brush their teeth. Have clean undergarments or have clothes that are old dirty and tattered. I have no idea what the right answer is. I am not sure anyone knows what the answer is. My question to this is why it is so much of a debate on how to care for our veterans.
I am hoping that by running the 1017 miles and showing people that it does not take much to help, that someday, fundraisers like this are not even necessary. For now, I will be working to help out because the need is there.
